OnePlus Nord N20 SE in Nepal: Here’s why the budget phone can be an instant hit here
OnePlus Nord N20 SE is officially available in Nepal now. The budget smartphone from the OnePlus Nord series was recently launched here in Nepal. The Nord series from OnePlus is the economic version of the brand.
The last time Oneplus officially launched a smartphone in Nepal was a few months back when it launched a premium mid-ranger, OnePlus Nord 2T, which was not a very popular choice mainly due to its price.
But, the economic version, OnePlus Nord N20 SE, might gain a new market as it offers plenty of good features for the price it comes at. The phone features a good and bright display and has a premium design. The phone offers a respectable battery backup and betters it with a fast charger. The phone also has good speakers for audio.
Let’s get into the details of the OnePlus Nord N20 SE.

Design and display
OnePlus Nord N20 SE comes with a glass front, plastic back and a plastic frame build. The phone comes in either black or blue colour options, each having a different texture on the back. The black variant has a grainy texture while the blue one offers a colour fusion texture, which looks pleasing. Hopefully, both of them are fingerprint resistant. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the phone for biometrics. The flat sides with the circular curves design of the phone are focused for easier one-hand use.
The phone weighs around 187 grams and is 8mm thick. The ports on the phone include an earphone jack, microphone jack, USB port, and speaker holes.
On the front of the OnePlus Nord N20 SE is a 6.56-inch IPS LCD display. It offers a resolution of 1,612 x 720 pixels and 269 PPI density. This is a standard display for a smartphone in this price range. Similarly, the display can achieve a peak brightness of up to 600 nits, making the use of the phone easy even during daylight. The display also supports a refresh rate of 60Hz, which could have been better.
Cameras
Nothing so fancy about the camera on OnePlus Nord N20 SE… However, the camera panel looks exquisite and does not give away as a budget phone. There is a 50MP main camera sensor with a PDAF feature on the back accompanied by a mere 2MP depth sensor. On the front is an 8MP camera sensor with an aperture of f/2.0.
The camera modes on the phone include night, video, photo, portrait, time-lapse, pro, pano and 5X zoom. Both the front and back cameras are capable of capturing 1080p resolution videos at 30fps.
Performance and storage
OnePlus Nord N20 SE runs on Oxygen OS 12.1 based on Android 12. The phone should at least get two years of software updates and three years of security patch updates. The OS of Oneplus is one of the smoothest. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 (12nm) chipset and the graphics are taken care of by PowerVR GE8320.
The phone is currently available in a single variant of 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. However, the user can expand the storage by up to 1TB with a microSD card.
Battery life, connectivity and others
OnePlus Nord N20 SE has a decent 5,000mAh non-removable li-po battery backup. This is not a great deal with smartphones in a similar price range. However, the impressive part is that it supports 33W fast charger. With this charger, the user can get up to 50 per cent battery in just 33 minutes. Also, the Super Power Saving Mode gives you up to 90 minutes of talk time or 53 minutes of texting on just a five per cent battery. Similarly, the optimised night charging mode on the phone prevents the phone from being overcharged, hence extending the battery life cycle.
The phone supports dual sims with 4G network connectivity. The support of dual-band wifi allows it to switch between the bandwidths easily. It also supports GPS and NFC. Similarly, Bluetooth 5.0 on the phone can be used for wireless pairing with other devices and the USB type-C 2.0 cable can be used for charging as well as for wired pairing.
OnePlus Nord N20 SE also has dual stereo speakers for audio, which can be great for watching films or listening to songs through the speakers themselves. The inclusion of 3.5mm headphones allows the user to have private time.
